Lancaster County homes face a range of property damage risks throughout the year. Knowing what to look for helps you act before minor issues become major repairs.
Burst pipes, failed supply lines, and storm-driven rain are leading causes of water damage in Bird-In-Hand homes. Older farmhouses and rural properties in this area often have aging plumbing that is more prone to failure during cold winters. Warning signs include water stains on ceilings, warped flooring, and musty odors. We extract standing water, dry the structure completely, and repair all affected materials to stop further deterioration.
House fires in rural areas like Bird-In-Hand can be especially damaging because longer response times allow smoke and soot to spread further before suppression. Smoke infiltrates wall cavities, insulation, and HVAC ductwork, leaving odors and residue long after the flames are out. Discolored walls, a persistent smoky smell, and visible soot are all warning signs. Our team cleans every affected surface, deodorizes thoroughly, and restores structural components to pre-fire condition.
Lancaster County’s humid summers create ideal conditions for mold to establish itself in basements and crawl spaces, especially in older homes common throughout the Bird-In-Hand area. Poor ventilation and groundwater intrusion accelerate growth significantly. Look for visible black or green spots, musty smells, and unexplained allergy symptoms in household members. Our remediation team contains the affected zone, removes all mold safely, and treats the area to prevent regrowth.
Severe thunderstorms and nor’easters hit Lancaster County hard each year, leaving behind damaged shingles, torn siding, and broken windows on Bird-In-Hand properties. Even small breaches in the building envelope allow water to enter and cause significant interior damage over time. Missing shingles, water stains near windows, and dented or cracked siding are key warning signs. We assess the full extent of storm damage and complete all repairs to secure your home against future weather events.

Our basement flooded due to a broken sewer pipe. Major did a wonderful job of clean-up. Anthony and Cam did an awesome job of putting our room back together the way it was before the flooding. I would highly recommend Major and Anthony and Cam!Posted on GoogleBrittany KohlerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
We can’t say enough amazing things about Major Restoration Services! After an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience with ServPro, Major Restorations came in and completely turned our situation around. From the very first phone call to the final walk-through, they were fair, transparent, and professional every step of the way. Duy was incredible—he came out right away to assess the water damage, had a detailed estimate to us the same day, and got the job started the very next morning. From there, the entire project was completed in less than a month! He even reviewed our outrageous invoice from ServPro and pointed out where they were clearly overcharging us. His honesty and industry knowledge were such a breath of fresh air. Tyler started tear-out and water remediation and was fantastic—thorough and clearly knew exactly what needed to be done. Jay and Cameron took care of the remodel and we couldn’t be happier with the quality of their work. They were friendly, respectful, and clearly cared about doing the job right. We truly hope we never need water damage services again, but if we do—or need any remodel work—Major Restoration Services will be our very first call. This is a company that genuinely cares about their clients and takes pride in doing the job right. They’ve earned our trust and our business for life!Posted on GoogleChrissy SpottsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
I wanted to make sure I leave a review of the team at Major Restoration. I purchased my first home in May of 2024. Within days of moving in, I had a plumbing issue that needed immediate correction. I contacted my insurance company who has a national contract with another national restoration service. After the initial company came to my house, they remediated the sewage damage and I was told I would be contacted by the restoration team to complete the restoration. MONTHS went by with little to no response from the other company. After getting the run around for months and not having use of my first level and full bathroom, I had my fill of the nonsense. I reached out to Major Restoration, hoping beyond hope that the team there could help me. My initial call was exactly what I needed at the time - I was met with compassion and quick estimate set up. Duoy and Brian came out to see what was left after the other company refused to complete the work. They were extremely kind, compassionate and thorough, ensuring that the estimate they worked up for the insurance company would completely restore my first level and get me whole again. Within weeks, the team at Major Restoration begun the work of putting things back together for me. They worked with a plumbing sub-con, DeRose Plumbing, who were also very kind, respectful and understanding. Major didn't just restore my first level - they made the space BETTER than it was when I bought it. The work they did was NEXT LEVEL. My family room, bathroom and laundry room are the showpiece of my house now, thanks to Major! I can't recommend this team enough. They were thorough, professional, kind and respectful. Every single team member, from the estimate team to the restoration crew to the office staff, treated me with respect and kindness, and the restoration work was completed impeccably. My only regret is that I listened to my insurance company and allowed them to pull in a national company to address the issue. In the future, my first choice will be Major Restoration.Posted on GoogleJack SchatzTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
We had an air conditioner leak into the wall. Major came out and corrected the problem and installed a new floor as well. Everything about the job was well done. Would definately use them again. Highly recommend.
