Common Problems We Fix in Lower Windsor Township Homes

Knowing the warning signs of property damage early can save Lower Windsor Township homeowners thousands of dollars in repairs and keep their families safe.

Water Damage from Plumbing Failures and Storms

Burst pipes, failed water heaters, and storm-driven roof leaks are among the most common sources of water damage in Lower Windsor Township homes. Many older properties in the township have aging supply lines and outdated drainage that are prone to sudden failure. Warning signs include water stains on ceilings, warped flooring, and musty odors. Our team extracts standing water, dries the structure thoroughly, and repairs damaged materials to prevent long-term deterioration.

Fire and Smoke-Related Damage

Kitchen fires and heating equipment failures are leading causes of residential fire damage across rural York County properties including Lower Windsor Township. Even a contained fire produces smoke that moves through walls, attic spaces, and HVAC systems, leaving behind corrosive residue and persistent odor. Many homeowners do not realize how far smoke travels until a professional assessment is completed. We remove damaged materials, clean affected surfaces, and fully deodorize the home before any reconstruction begins.

Mold Growth in Damp Basements and Crawl Spaces

Lower Windsor Township’s humid summers and older housing stock create ideal conditions for mold to take hold in basements and crawl spaces. Moisture that enters through foundation cracks or poor drainage can sit undetected for weeks before visible mold appears. By that point, colonies may have already spread into wall cavities and subfloor systems. Our mold remediation process locates and removes all affected materials, treats surfaces with antimicrobial agents, and addresses the moisture source to prevent recurrence.

Storm Damage to Roofs, Siding, and Windows

Severe thunderstorms and nor’easters regularly move through York County, and Lower Windsor Township properties take the full impact. High winds strip shingles, drive rain under flashing, and crack or shatter windows, allowing water to enter the building envelope fast. If a roof breach is not sealed quickly, water can saturate insulation and framing within hours. Our storm damage team boards up openings, performs emergency tarping, and completes permanent repairs to roofing, siding, and windows once conditions allow.

Our basement flooded due to a broken sewer pipe. Major did a wonderful job of clean-up. Anthony and Cam did an awesome job of putting our room back together the way it was before the flooding. I would highly recommend Major and Anthony and Cam!

We can’t say enough amazing things about Major Restoration Services! After an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience with ServPro, Major Restorations came in and completely turned our situation around. From the very first phone call to the final walk-through, they were fair, transparent, and professional every step of the way. Duy was incredible—he came out right away to assess the water damage, had a detailed estimate to us the same day, and got the job started the very next morning. From there, the entire project was completed in less than a month! He even reviewed our outrageous invoice from ServPro and pointed out where they were clearly overcharging us. His honesty and industry knowledge were such a breath of fresh air. Tyler started tear-out and water remediation and was fantastic—thorough and clearly knew exactly what needed to be done. Jay and Cameron took care of the remodel and we couldn’t be happier with the quality of their work. They were friendly, respectful, and clearly cared about doing the job right. We truly hope we never need water damage services again, but if we do—or need any remodel work—Major Restoration Services will be our very first call. This is a company that genuinely cares about their clients and takes pride in doing the job right. They’ve earned our trust and our business for life!

I wanted to make sure I leave a review of the team at Major Restoration. I purchased my first home in May of 2024. Within days of moving in, I had a plumbing issue that needed immediate correction. I contacted my insurance company who has a national contract with another national restoration service. After the initial company came to my house, they remediated the sewage damage and I was told I would be contacted by the restoration team to complete the restoration. MONTHS went by with little to no response from the other company. After getting the run around for months and not having use of my first level and full bathroom, I had my fill of the nonsense. I reached out to Major Restoration, hoping beyond hope that the team there could help me. My initial call was exactly what I needed at the time - I was met with compassion and quick estimate set up. Duoy and Brian came out to see what was left after the other company refused to complete the work. They were extremely kind, compassionate and thorough, ensuring that the estimate they worked up for the insurance company would completely restore my first level and get me whole again. Within weeks, the team at Major Restoration begun the work of putting things back together for me. They worked with a plumbing sub-con, DeRose Plumbing, who were also very kind, respectful and understanding. Major didn't just restore my first level - they made the space BETTER than it was when I bought it. The work they did was NEXT LEVEL. My family room, bathroom and laundry room are the showpiece of my house now, thanks to Major! I can't recommend this team enough. They were thorough, professional, kind and respectful. Every single team member, from the estimate team to the restoration crew to the office staff, treated me with respect and kindness, and the restoration work was completed impeccably. My only regret is that I listened to my insurance company and allowed them to pull in a national company to address the issue. In the future, my first choice will be Major Restoration.
